Producer Special S.4 E 12 – Changes to Liquor Laws in Ontario
The Ontario government recently passed legislation to expand alcoholic drink sales in Ontario, a promise made by Premier Ford during his 2018 election. This legislation is set to take effect in 2026 and will allow the ability to buy beer, wine, cider and seltzers at convenience stores, big box outlets, some gas stations and more supermarkets.
Here, the Connoisseurs discuss how this will affect the Ontario craft beer and local bottle shop market, some of the potential consequences of the new laws, and whether we believe this is the beginning of the end for The Beer Store and LCBO monopolies.
